| The
Las Vegas Wash and Wetlands
Wetlands are muddy places that have lots of plants and tall grasses. In
Southern Nevada, we have a desert wetland called the Las Vegas Wash. The
wash looks like a little river that flows into Lake
Mead.
Water running down the streets of Las Vegas
can end up in the Las Vegas Wash. Some of that water is very dirty. At
the wash, plants and grasses help clean the water. It is important to
keep the wetlands healthy so the plants and grasses can grow and help
clean the water before it goes into Lake Mead.
