Water is Life
  • If there was no water on Earth, there would be no plants, animals or humans! All living things need water to live.

  • The human body is almost 70 percent water. Every part of our body uses water.
  • A farmer needs water to grow crops, like the apples or corn that we eat. For a farmer, a drought means there is not enough water in the soil for crops to grow. A farmer may have to grow fewer crops during a drought.

  • Tomatoes are 90 percent water, potatoes are 80 percent water, and chickens are 75 percent water.

  • People can live several weeks without food, but only a few days without water.

  • One gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds!

  • Each day, we should drink at least eight glasses of water.
