Water Conservation

What can you do to help save water? Try some of these:

  • Turn off the water when you brush your teeth.

  • Don't let a garden hose run. Make sure it has a nozzle to stop the water.

  • When your sprinklers are running, make sure they are not spraying the driveway or sidewalk. If they are, tell your parents.

  • Tell your parents to use a broom instead of a hose to clean the driveway.

  • Take a shorter shower. If you take baths, don't fill the tub all the way to the top.

  • Tell your parents to use a car wash instead of washing their car at home. A car wash recycles water.

  • It takes more water to wash dishes by hand. Use the dishwasher instead.
  • The water we save when people trade their grass for water-smart plants is HUGE: We could fill more than 452 million bathtubs or fill the pyramid at the Luxor Hotel 50 times with the water we've saved! Tell your parents to visit snwa.com to learn how they can even make money for removing their grass!
